May 7, 2011 was proclaimed Susan Hicks day by Mayor Roy Floyd at the Women Rock Pink Fire Truck Reveal event held at Bonham Chrysler. Women Rock founder, LuAnn Daniel was finally able to meet the men responsible for making her dream of having a pink fire truck to call the Texoma area home come true.

Eugene Knies, owner of Bonham Chrysler made it possible for Women Rock to acquire the classic 1975 Ford Fire Truck, while Scott Bechtel of Texoma Wraps has turned her into a pink ribbon beauty.

Sean Norton who has created all the Women Rock logos, and along with Tatiana Marcum of Texoma Wraps provided all the graphic work.

Susan's family have all pitched in with elbow grease and paint brushes to help get her back in shiny condition.

"There's still some work to be done on her, they ran into some paint issues, so she isn't 100% pink yet, and she's already beautiful! Wait until she's totally pinked out, with a bubble light, and a siren, she'll be all woman, and we'll have to treat her like one, with tender, loving care."

WHEREAS, Susan Elaine Hicks, dedicated much of her life to cancer awareness, and helping those diagnosed with the disease, and when diagnosed with breast cancer herself, continued helping others, committed to making a difference.

WHEREAS, Susan Elaine Hicks was a ROCK in many ways. She was the rock of her family, the foundation, the cornerstone. She was a pillar in her community, solidly faithful in her church. God was her Rock. She was like a rock in her battle with breast cancer, waging her fight with heart, body, and soul. Never once letting go of the hand of her faithful Savior.

WHEREAS, Throughout Susan’s diagnosis, treatments, and hospital stays, she spent her time thinking and worrying about everyone, and everything else but her own situation, the same way she lived her life. She remained the caretaker, a role she proudly held throughout her life.

WHEREAS, Women Rock is an organization today because we were inspired by Susan. Her hope, strength, courage, faith, and spirit were the inspiration we needed to take our breast cancer awareness program to a higher level. A level where more women can be helped and more lives can be saved.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY FLOYD, MAYOR of the City of Bonham, do hereby proclaim May 7th to be “Susan Elaine Hicks Day.”
