Fannin County was again put on the map this week as The Honorable Joe Moss, Judge of the County Court at Law, received the Pro Bono Award presented by the American Bar Association Section of Family Law at a pre-convention ceremony in Forth Worth Thursday. This award is presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution of pro bono legal services which has advanced the ideal of equal justice under the law.
It was determined that Judge Moss had provided over 900 hours of free legal services to those who could not pay for representation. This equates to approximately six months working eight hours a day, forty hours per week.
Judge Moss is a candidate for Judge, Fannin County Court at Law, a position he now holds. The Fannin County Commissioners appointed Judge Moss as the first judge of this newly established court.
