Pajamas welcome at this funraiser 7a.m.-7p.m.
McKINNEY, Texas — No black tie is required for the Get Up and Give fundraiser that will benefit the North Texas History Center and other area non-profits. On September 8, 2010 the Communities Foundation of Texas is asking people far and wide to get up off the couch, get out of bed, and get to the computer to give at www.donorbridgetx.org.
“The North Texas History Center is fortunate to have a group of people that care deeply about preserving North Texas history and we know that they will take advantage of this opportunity to help us,” said executive director, Vicki Day.
“Giving on September 8 goes even further than a gift on any other day,” added Sarah Hatcher, Museum Manager and Education Curator, “matching funds are being provided by some of the area’s biggest foundations, so every dollar we receive will turn into more as those matches are calculated.”
In addition to matching funds, CFT has created a variety of opportunities for nonprofits to win money. The single nonprofit organization that receives the largest cumulative dollar amount in donations wins $10,000, as does the small non-profit (under $1,000,000 operating budget) with the largest number of individual donors.
All funds donated on September 8 are given to the designated non-profit. The North Texas History Center will put 100% of donations into operating the History Center.
