WACO – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service beef and forage committees in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill, Limestone and McLennan counties are hosting the second annual CenTex Beef Cattle Symposium Sept. 24 at the McGregor Research Center in McGregor.

Program topics and speakers will be: premiums and discounts, Brian Uptmore, West Auction Barn; chute-side manners, Dr. John Mark Davidson, Texas A&M veterinarian; sire selection, Dr. Larry Boleman, associate vice chancellor, Texas A&M AgriLife; herd health, Dr. Steve Schultz, Camp Cooley Genetics; genome and genetic research, Dr. Andy Herring, assistant department head, Texas A&M department of animal science; and pasture forage management, Dr. Larry Redmon, AgriLife Extension forage specialist.

Registration for the symposium is $20, which includes a steak dinner. RSVP is required by Sept. 20 for meal planning. There is a fee for agriculture and agriculture business vendors who would like to set up a display.
