The Bonham Heritage Day Lone Star Mower Racing Association Exhibition Race on Old Ector Road at 3 p.m. on July 24 will feature a really extraordinary machine!  David Hill of Keller, TX, better known as “DATHRILL,” is bringing his BP Class Mowchine #332, the GRAN TURISMOW.  The name disguises the fact that this particular machine is a “collection of parts.”  Some of its assemblies come from automobiles, bicycles, motorcycles, 3- and 4-wheelers, go-carts, race cars, and even a piece from his wife’s kitchen, not to mention those one of a kind pieces he had to create.

From this, you probably can guess that David’s occupation is a small engine [lawnmower] mechanic!

His #332 team has been published in several local and national papers and magazines and has been featured on the ESPN and USA network, as well as local Texas channels.  Last year the mower and its builder were on the SPEED channel-PINKS-all out takes.  This machine is capable of running 80-85mph!

David is known for his controlled 360 burn outs at the end of each of his winning races. These 1st place winning burn outs will DATHRILL everyone. David is last year’s BP Class Texas State Champion.

There has been considerable interest expressed by a number of Fannin County residents in participating in the race, but, as this is an Exhibition Race by members of the Lone Star Mower Racers Association, that is simply not possible.

However, if this year’s race is well received, next year we will have a points race that will be open to all wishing to field their machines under the rules of the LSMRA.

If you’re interested, come out to Old Ector Road before 3 p.m., park your car for free, carry your lawn chairs over to the viewing area, and watch the action!

Admission is also free!

If you like what you see and want to rev up your mower engine and join in the dirt-throwing, bone-jarring mayhem, make your way to the pit area and talk to some of the racers.  They will be happy to tell you what you need to do.

And don’t forget our half-time show in addition to “DATHRILL’s" monster machine!  The Edge of Knight Medieval Theater folks will put on a choreographed display of contact juggling and sword-swinging action (with 4-ft. long broadswords!) that will entertain all viewers!

COME FOR THE LAWN MOWER RACES and STAY FOR THE GARDEN TRACTOR PULL!  Remember that about 6 p.m., roaring engines and dirt-throwing wheels will be the order of the day as the Garden Tractor Pull gets under way and will continue under the lights, if necessary, until a champ is crowned!

There will be concessions and portable toilets on site for your convenience.

So bring your lawn chairs and COME FOR THE LAWN MOWER RACES and STAY FOR THE GARDEN TRACTOR PULL!
