East 9th Street in Bonham seems to lead the city when it comes to patriotic displays on Flag Day.

Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center, as well as several homes along East 9th Street, all have the Stars and Stripes prominently displayed.

Louis Holmes, a Korean War veteran, has perhaps the largest residential display in the area.  Mr. Holmes proudly puts out his display in front of his residence on East 9th Street for every patriotic holiday.

Flag Day is celebrated June 14 to commemorate the adoption of the flag of the United States by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.

President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916 formally establishing June 14 as Flag Day.
