Bonham -- It was another pleasant spring evening and another wonderful night of Music in the Garden at Creative Center in Bonham as pianist Elise Burns and local trio Heart & Soul entertained another large crowd at the Thursday evening music series.
This family-friendly event features wholesome entertainment weekly every Thursday through June 17. The May 27 concert was sponsored by CJS Longhorn Cattle.
Honey Grove resident Elise Burns performed first. Burns's appreciation for classical music, the work of Beethoven in particular, was evident in her delivery. Burns, like the group that would follow her Thursday evening, is also fond of music with a Christian theme.
"I would be remiss if I didn't pay tribute to the One who made these hands," Burns remarked. "If you have experienced anything beautiful in your life, anything lovely, give Him the credit."
Heart & Soul took the stage next. This trio, comprised of Jill Smith, Jan Allen and Patti Felmet, has been performing at First United Methodist Church in Bonham for seven year. The song list was interesting and varied, and the harmonies polished from years working together.
The audience enjoyed both sets and another large crowd is likely next Thursday evening at Music in the Garden, when local gospel trio Sing Over Me and Will Lacy perform.
