Dallas (UNTS), Texas – Terry Pankratz has been named Vice Chancellor for Finance for the University of North Texas System.

As Vice Chancellor for Finance, Pankratz will serve as the chief business officer of the UNT System, providing oversight of the financial activities of the System as a whole and each component institution. He will be responsible for Systemwide financial planning and analysis, including coordination of the UNT System’s annual budget.
“Terry Pankratz’s years of experience in Texas higher education will serve the UNT System well,” said Lee Jackson, Chancellor of the UNT System. “He impressed me with his judgment and character, and his work at a major research flagship university will be critical in helping the System advance.”
Pankratz will become a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet and will begin developing the newly created position of Vice Chancellor for Finance.
"The University of North Texas System has had a great deal of success over the past several years, and it will be great to be a part of that progress," Pankratz said. “The more I learned about this position, the more excited I became. As a newly created position, the opportunity to put a service delivery model in place through a new office is very exciting. Chancellor Jackson has an expectation of a high level of collaboration between system members, and I look forward to working on this on his behalf."
The UNT System began planning for a Vice Chancellor for Finance more than a year ago, and the position was approved in May 2009 when the UNTS Board of Regents approved the System spending plan.
Pankratz, who has twenty years of broad-based financial and administrative experience, brings a wealth of executive leadership experience to the UNT System. While at Texas A&M University in College Station, Pankratz served as a member of the President’s Executive Team and was responsible for financial operations and administration of the university operating budget. He implemented numerous cost savings initiatives in the division of finance while improving service delivery to campus departments. As part of these initiatives, he implemented shared accounting services with the Texas A&M Branch Campus in Galveston and developed an agreement for human resources shared services with Texas A&M University Commerce. Prior to becoming Vice President for Finance, Pankratz worked at the flagship as Associate Vice President and Controller beginning in December 2005.
Before rejoining Texas A&M, where he had worked as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Interim Director for Student Health Services, Pankratz served as Vice President for Business and Administration and Chief Financial Officer for Texas A&M University Commerce beginning in March 2004.
Pankratz holds an MBA from Texas A&M Commerce, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University in College Station.
