A young Dodd City Lady Hornets team continues to get better with every game and the North Hopkins Lady Panthers were the latest team to feel the sting of the Lady Hornets.
Dodd City scored four times in the first inning, came right back to plate three runners in the second stanza and coasted home with an 8-1 victory.
Meanwhile, junior right-hander Sarah Smeltzer was slicing through the North Hopkins line-up. Smeltzer finished 14 strikeouts out of 28 batters while allowing three hits and giving up four walks.
The Dodd City Lady Hornets will open district at home against the Savoy Lady Cardinals on Tuesday, March 23 at 4:30.
