Funeral Services for W.C. “Griff” Griffitt, 89-year-old Leonard resident, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 16, 2010 at the Leonard Church of Christ.  Charles Wrenn and Steven Medford will officiate.  Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery.  Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday March 15, 2010 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. 

“Griff” was born January 17, 1921 at Bailey, Texas.  His parents were John H. and Ruby Lavera Hudson Griffitt.  He married Lucy Ann Gaulden June 1, 1946 at Celeste, Texas.  He was a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army during World War II and a member of the Leonard Church of Christ where he served many years as an elder. 

He also was a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Leonard Volunteer Fire Dept, FFA, VATAT, Athletic Club and Community Garden Club.  He had a master's of science degree and he worked for many years as a Vocational Agricultural Teacher for the Leonard Independent School District. 

He is survived by his wife:  Lucy Ann Griffitt of Leonard; his son and daughter-in-law:  Glenn & Louise Griffitt of Leonard; his daughter and son-in-law:  Sue and Gary McDonald of Leonard; his daughter:  Betty Ann Barker of Leonard; his brother and sister-in-law:  James and Jo Griffitt of Salado; his 7 grandchildren:  Warren Lynn McDonald of Allen, John Wilson Griffitt and Jim Blaine McDonald of Leonard, Wesley Glenn Griffitt of Knoxville, Tennessee, Zane Wesley Barker of Wylie, Jay Griffitt Barker of Leonard and Ted Allen Barker of Indian Head, Maryland; his 6 great grandchildren:  Micah Nicole Griffitt and Sloane Elizabeth Griffitt of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dallas Wilson Griffitt and Austin Drake Griffitt of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Remington Wesleyn Scout Barker of Indian Head, Maryland and Avery Catherine McDonald of Allen, Texas. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother:  LaFayne Grffitt.
