Tiny “Aldon Morris” Roten, 81 of Honey Grove went to be with the Lord Monday, March 8, 2010 at Paris Regional Hospital in Paris, Texas.
Services will be 2:00P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Chapel in Honey Grove with Rev. Terry Paul Cunningham and Rev. Bob Upchurch officiating.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Free, Rob Bowles, Tommy Gaither, Benny Caffee, Rickey Caffee and Jimmy Caffee.
Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Petty, Texas. The family will receive friends 6 to 7P.M. Wed., March 10, 2010 at the funeral home in Honey Grove.
Tiny was born at Monkstown, TX; Oct. 18, 1928 to parents, Sullivan Roten and Audrey Lucas Roten. He was raised by John and Leona Cates. He married Marie Gaither April 23, 1954 in Hugo, OK. She preceded him in death Nov. 11, 2002.
Tiny served his country during WW-II in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He worked as a fireman for the city of Paris from 1958 to 1962; he also worked as a fireman for the city of Honey Grove from 1962 through 1970.
He was employed at the Bonham Police Dept. as a dispatcher for several years. He worked for Cooper-Sorrells Funeral home both in the Honey Grove and Bonham locations from 1970 to 1978. He later would move to Stanton, Texas and was employed by an oil distributorship.
After 17 years he and Marie returned to the Honey Grove area. He attended Westside Baptist Church in Honey Grove and Honey Grove Cowboy Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sullivan and Audrey Roten, Wife, Marie, Daughter, Sharon Kay Roten and a brother.
He is survived by sons, Michael Lee Roten of Honey Grove, TX. and Jerry Lynn Roten of Bonham, TX. He has 6-Grandchildren and 6-Great Grandchildren.
