Whitesboro Lady Cats fall to Pittsburg in the Sherman Holiday Tournament championship

In action on the girls side of the bracket as the Sherman Holiday Tournament got underway Monday, Whitesboro edged Pottsboro, 35-33.  Whitesboro got off to a great start and then fought off a late rally by Pottsboro.  Whitesboro was led by Jill Schuessler's 17 points. 

On Tuesday, Whitesboro defeated Clarksville, 47-44, to advance to the championship game.  This contest was extremely close, but Whitesboro outscored Clarksville by three points in the fourth quarter and that turned out to be the difference in the game. Jill Schuessler scored 20 points to lead Whitesboro, with Rachel Urban and Katie Guthrie both putting up 11 points.

In the championship game played December 30, Pittsburg beat Whitesboro, 52-44, thanks to a big fourth quarter rally that saw Pittsburg outscore Whitesboro, 15-6.  Jill Schuessler and Katie Guthrie each scored 14 points to pace the Lady Cats' offense.
