Trenton Lady Tigers 49, Dodd City Lady Hornets 25

The Trenton Lady Tigers (2-8) got back into the winning side of things today in second round of the Bland Invitational Tournament on the consolation side against Dodd City Lady Hornets.

Both teams played well in first period, with the Lady Tigers holding a slim two-point lead at the end of one,  10-8. In the second period, the Lady Tigers were able to get their defense solid and the offense going and outscored the Lady Hornets 17-9 to take an 27-17 halftime lead. 

In the third and fourth quarters, the Lady Tigers continued their strong defense and scoring attack and was able to pull away with an 49-25 victory. 

"This was a good win for us," says Trenton head coach Mike Jones.  "The girls really played hard and smart.  Our defense picked up and then our offense came through."

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Alexis Somers with 11 points, Joyce Garrison had 10, Gaby Galvan finished with eight,  Cessna Reed had seven, Pearl Walls, Shannon Robinson, and Marla Frazier each had three points,  and Casey Beezley and Kristen Rhoden each had two points.

With the win, the Lady Tigers will be playing in the Consolation Finals tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM against Ector.
