He will be running for re-election to the Texas Senate in 2010. "I look forward to seeing everyone on the campaign trail in the next few months." In addition to filing, the Deuell campaign also announced on Thursday that Sen. Deuell had so far secured the official endorsement of the following Republican County Chairs in Senate District Two: First elected in 2002, Deuell has continued to distinguish himself over four legislative sessions. In his four legislative sessions, Sen. Deuell has passed over 175 pieces of legislation dealing with every major issue in Texas. Bills passed by Sen. Deuell included measures to reduce property taxes, bring about greater efficiencies in state government, strengthen our DWI laws and promote economic development. One of Deuell's most notable pieces of legislation was the landmark "Jessica's Law," which contained some of the strongest punishments in the country for child predators. During his legislative career, Deuell has been honored with many awards and recognitions for his service. They include the "Crime Fighter of the Year" award by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, "Outstanding Senator" by the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters, and the "Patient Advocacy Award" from the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.
