Aubrey Lady Eagles edge Melissa Lady Cardinals in OT thriller at American Airlines Center

Dallas (Nov. 30) -- The Melissa Lady Cardinals and the Aubrey Lady Eagles gave the crowd at American Airlines Center in Dallas a great show for four quarters and then the action spilled over into overtime.

Melissa's Skyler Zadow finished with a game-high 14 points, but a balanced attack by Aubrey gave the Lady Eagles an exciting one-point win, 40-39. 

The overtime loss is the lone blemish on the Lady Cardinals' 4-1 season record.

The battle between Melissa and Aubrey was a nail-biter from the very beginning.  The Lady Cardinals were up 7-6 at the first buzzer, but it was Aubrey with a 20-19 advantage at intermission.

Melissa controlled the action in the third period to take a 27-22 lead going into the final frame, however Aubrey outscored Melissa 15-10 in the fourth quarter to leave the two competitive teams all knotted up at 37-37 at the end of regulation. 

Aubrey managed three points in OT, while the Lady Eagles' defense limited the Lady Cardinals to two points.

In addition to Zadow's impressive performance, Melissa also had the number two scorer in the contest, with Keleigh Taylor tossing in 10 points.  Jacqui Nickell scored six, Shelby Hill and Morgan Helmberger each put up four points, while Claighton Bush hit a free throw to round out the Melissa scoring.

For Aubrey, Karr knocked down nine points, followed by Stasney (8 pts.), Bullock (7 pts.), Robbins (6 pts.), Lynn (6 pts.) and Brown (4 pts.).
