Thousands of supporters turned out on a sunny Fall day recently to support the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas. Featuring a one-mile walk starting at Flagpole Hill on the shores of White Rock Lake in Dallas, the family-friendly event was a carnival atmosphere with a rock climbing wall and face painting for the kids.

"We are proud to support the Buddy Walk," said Tripp Steele, general manager of Park Place Volvo. "My daughter Jordan has Down’s so this cause is especially dear to my heart. It is important to raise awareness throughout our community. The Down Syndrome Guild is doing great work. We are happy to show our support to families of children with Down Syndrome."

Park Place Volvo was the title sponsor of the 2009 Buddy Walk, an annual fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Guild, a non-profit that provides accurate and current information, resources and support for people with Down syndrome, their families and the community. Funds raised help support local programs and national research, education and advocacy efforts. More information is available on the organization’s website at: http://downsyndromedallas.org.

The Down Syndrome Guild offers parent-to-parent support to more than 1,000 families with new babies, young children, school age children, and adults with Down syndrome through personal visits, information packets, and/or quarterly informative gatherings. A trained Guild member is part of the team at the Down Syndrome Clinic at Children's Medical Center, which assists families with new babies and young children.

The Down Syndrome Guild publishes monthly newsletters that contain information about area activities and services, as well as articles on medical, educational, developmental, and social topics.
