DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Romantic comedy comes to the stage as the University of North Texas Opera presents Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, or "The Marriage of Figaro."

Directed by Paula Homer and conducted by Stephen Dubberly, the performances will take place at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 (Friday) and 3 p.m. Nov. 15 (Sunday). An "In the Know" lecture will be held 45 minutes before each performance. Dubberly will discuss the famous overture and the soaring melodies which have immortalized the wedding day of Figaro.

"The Marriage of Figaro is the ultimate romantic comedy -- nonstop action, hilarious high jinks, amorous intrigue, mistaken identity, clever ruses, memorable characters, brilliant music, and, at its core, a deeply moving love story," Homer said.

The opera production will be performed in Italian with English surtitles.

"Our production features exciting young singers and a superb orchestra performing in a lovely and intimate space," Homer said. "The Lyric Theater is an ideal place in which to enjoy this sparkling, compelling masterpiece. This will be an unforgettable musical and theatrical experience."

All performances take place in the Lyric Theater in the UNT Murchison Performing Arts Center, located along the north side of Interstate 35E at North Texas Boulevard. Tickets are $15 to $35 ($35 price includes dessert/wine). Call 940-369-7802 or visit www.theMPAC.com.

The production is sponsored in part by Wells Fargo.
