Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Leo Franklin Lyles, 89, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Bonham under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Father Wilson Blas will officiate.  Burial will follow in Hilger Cemetery.  Leo passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham.

 

Leo was born Jan. 17, 1920 in Knox City, Texas, the son of John Franklin Lyles and Ethel Pitts Lyles.  He attended school in Cedar Bayou and was a US Navy veteran of WWII.  Leo married Pauline Margaret Dobosh, Dec. 26, 1942 in Flint, Michigan.  He was employed with General Motors for 32 ˝ years before retiring, Feb. 1, 1975 in Flint, MI.  Leo and Pauline moved to Fannin County in Dec. of 1975.  He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.  Leo was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Carol Lyles; a brother, John Lyles and a sister, Juarine Jewel Price.

Wife:  Pauline Lyles of Bonham

2 Sons:  Gerald Franklin “Jerry” Lyles of Linden, MI

                Lynn David Lyles of Jamestown, TN

2 Daughters:  Jeanette Marie Grantner of Canon City, CO

                Myrna A. Lyles of Saginaw, MI

Brother:  Rhoal Lyles of Rusk, TX

Sisters:  Elwanda Tarpley of Ivanhoe

                Iris Medlock of Rusk, TX

7 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

 

A Rosary and visitation will be held at 7:00 PM Friday night in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.
