What do you get when you host a festival named after an American folk hero in the historic downtown of the "Sweetest Town in Texas?"  Well, that would obviously be the Davy Crockett Festival in Honey Grove.

The story goes that Crockett camped in a grove of trees full of bee hives and sent letters back to Tennessee of the "honey grove" he stumbled across while on his way to San Antonio to fight in the Texas Revolution in 1836.

Once a year, downtown Honey Grove swarms once more, only now it is with residents and visitors enjoying a family-friendly festival in the city of 2,000 inhabitants on the east side of Fannin County.

A variety of booths provided food and games, while musicians performed on two separate stages.

Gary Sisson performed a dramatic reading of Davy Crockett's last letter.  Allison Cardile accompanied Sisson for several musical numbers, as well.

Fannin County Habitat was selling raffle tickets for an engraved historic Fannin County rifle that will be raffled off at the Fannin County Fair.  Raffle tickets are still available, so don't miss out on this opportunity to win a rifle that would certainly look great mounted over the fireplace.
