Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson shares some anecdotes with the crowd.
A crowd of several hundred dignitaries, elected officials and invited guests attended the official opening and ribbon cutting of the IESI environmentally conscious material recovery facility in McKinney on Friday, October 2.
The facility will process collected recycled materials from residential and commercial customers across North Texas.
The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) also houses a second-floor community room and observation deck overlooking the recycling operations area. Here, IESI invites area schools, scouting groups, after- school programs, chambers of commerce and other organizations to tour the MRF and learn about the importance of recycling.
Among the attendees from Fannin and Grayson counties were Fannin County Commissioner Pat Hilliard, Sherman Mayor Bill Magers, Denison Councilman Obi Lee Greenleaf, Sr., TCOG Environmental Coordinator David Trout and Savoy resident and CORE (Citizens Organizing for Resources and Environment) member Lisbeth Echeandia.
