DENTON (UNT), Texas –  In response to the global economic slowdown and record unemployment rates, the University of North Texas partnered with the National Business Services Alliance to create a job skills training program, known as the UNT Career Success Programs. UNT has now formed partnerships with area Workforce Solutions Boards to make the program free for many applicants.

The UNT Career Success Programs are a joint effort between the university’s Center for Achievement and Lifelong Learning and the NBSA, one of the nation’s leading university-endorsed skills certification bodies. The program was designed to allow individuals to attain skill certifications in high-demand career fields in 12 weeks or less.

UNT is one of only two Texas institutions to partner with the NBSA to provide online career-focused training programs.  The Career Success Programs will help job seekers develop skills for employment in accounting, management, office administration and other areas in high demand by Texas employers.

UNT’s new partnership with seven of Texas’ Workforce Solution Boards will allow qualified individuals to receive training for a new career free of charge.  Interested applicants will need to locate their local Workforce Solution Board by visiting http://www.twc.state.tx.us/customers/bnp/bnpsub1.html to begin the application process. The workforce boards will provide applicants with a career counselor who will assess their needs and help them choose the right career path.

If a participant qualifies for training and shows financial need, then he or she will be provided with a voucher for UNT Career Success training. UNT currently has partnerships with the following Workforce Solution Boards:
