Ivanhoe, Texas -- Memorial services will be held for Samuel James Read, age 73, of Ivanhoe on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham at 11:00 A.M. Chaplain Gene Owen will officiate the service.  Mr. Read passed away on June 30, 2009 at Honey Grove Nursing Center. 

Samuel Read was born in Derby, England on June 8, 1936 to parents Samuel James Read and Annie Hewitt Read.  He married Winifred (Fordham) Read on September 5, 1959 in Long Eaton Nottinghamshire, England.  Mr. Read was a machinist by trade and served 2 years in Royal Air Force-Bomb Disposal. 

Survivors are wife Winifred Read of Ivanhoe, daughters Ann Renfro and husband Lynn of Bonham, Jane Poskocil and husband Keith of Elyria, OH, 5 grandchildren Jade Warburton and partner Gary Johnson, Kirsty Carroll and husband Blake, Daniel Poskocil, William Poskocil, Steven Poskocil, 1 great-granddaughter Ella Ann Johnson, 2 step-grandchildren Lauren Wiessert and husband Heath, Ethan Renfro, 1 step-great-grandchild Brayden Wiessert, and sister Iris Harrison and husband Stan of Derby, England along with numerous nieces and nephews.
