Telephone, Texas -- Graveside services for Sherman Edward “Ted” Butler, Jr., 80, of Telephone, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Gober Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Rev. Marty Hutchins will officiate.  Ted passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at his residence.

 

Ted was born June 26, 1929 in Gilham, Arkansas, the son of Sherman Edward “Slick” Butler, Sr. and Vertya Ward Butler.  He graduated from Bartley Woods School.  Ted married Lillie Marie Orr, Aug. 3, 1956 in Bonham, and she preceded him in death, Mar. 26, 1990.  He was a mechanic for Hanes Equipment and Tractor Co. Ted was of the Baptist faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Edward Butler, July 16, 2002 and a brother, Billy Loyd Butler, June 11, 2008.

Daughter:  Audrey Lasater and husband, Johnny of Telephone

4 Sisters:              Dot Suitor and husband, Billy of Windom

                Mary Verdell and husband, Orville Franklin of Pottsboro

                Judy Witcher and husband, Dr. Harold Dean “Doc” Witcher of Honey Grove

                Martha Smith and husband, Lindy of Yuba, OK

4 Grandchildren:  Kassie Daniel and husband, Bo, Kevin Lasater, Mollie Lasater and Joshua Lasater

1 Great Grandchild:  Kaitlyn Daniel

 

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until service time Wednesday.
