Van Alstyne scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning and pulled away to beat Bonham 16-10 in regional Majors tournament competition Saturday in Bonham.

Van Alstyne went up 1-0, but Bonham tied the game on a squeeze bunt by Dayne Dunlap and then took the lead when Shelby Williams stole home on a wild pitch.

A two-run shot over the left field fence by Lane Fox had Bonham out front, 4-1.  But Van Alstyne scored four runs with two outs in the top of the fourth frame to reclaim the lead, 5-4.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bonham's Dalton Cagle raced home on a fielder's choice to even the score at 5-5.

Van Alstyne racked up back-to-back ground-rule doubles in the top of the sixth inning and plated five runners, including four runs with two outs.

Bonham trimmed the VA lead to 10-7 in the bottom of the sixth  stanza, but the Van Alstyne bats drove in six more runs in the top of the seventh.  Bonham managed three runs in their final at-bat.

Bonham will take on Wolfe City at 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Van Alstyne will take the field at 6:00 p.m. Sunday against the winner of the Euless/Trenton game.
