DALLAS, Texas -- The sixth annual CityArts Celebration presented by TXU Energy showcases a sampling of the Dallas area's best chefs, food, wine and spirits. CityArts Celebration is a free festival hosted in the downtown Dallas Arts District June 12-14.
Local chefs in the Culinary Showcase serve festival patrons with food samples, conduct cooking demonstrations and reveal favorite recipes. The Culinary Showcase also houses wine and cocktail tastings. Demonstrations and tastings are offered nearly every hour Friday, Saturday and Sunday and are free to the public. Additionally, a variety of food and beverages are available for purchase.
"CityArts Celebration shows off the best in Dallas food, art, music and dance, all located in the heart of the nation's largest urban arts district," said Phillip Jones, president and CEO of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. "With more than 7,000 restaurants in the area and numerous celebrated and award-winning chefs, Dallas is known as a dining destination. This free festival presents both Dallas residents and visitors with a free opportunity to experience our city."
Chefs featured at CityArts Celebration include but are not limited to Chef Sharon Van Meter of the Milestone Culinary Arts Center, Chef Chris Meier of the Capital Grill, Chef Mansour Gorgi of the Canary Café and Chef Brian C. Luscher of the Grape.
For wine lovers, mixologist Trudy Thomas is serving "Wine[tails]", made with [yellow tail] wines, and Noel Petrin, corporate wine director for Cru Wine Bar, is conducting wine tastings paired with Cabot Creamery cheese. Cocktails are provided by Rick Shrew of Kirby's Steakhouse, and renowned tequila aficionado Raul Santillan is guiding participants through a refined tequila experience. Additionally, Community Coffee is hosting a coffee tasting on Sunday morning, June 14.
