A long time visitor to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, and his wife, have been named as Photographers of the Month for June by the Friends of Hagerman.  Robert and Mary Ann Cummings, Sachse residents who also live part-time in Fredericksburg, will have an album of photos taken at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge featured on the Friends of Hagerman website.

The Cummings  were just married in December last year.  They are in their mid-sixties, and both enjoy the outdoors.   They have been visiting different refuges and birding areas and taking photos while learning more about bird identification.

Robert says that he has been coming to Hagerman off and on for about 20 years, and is an avid waterfowler, which is reflected in the number of ducks and geese in their photos.   He is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor, retired for a while and then managed Little Sandy, a National Wildlife Refuge in a Conservation Easement format in East Texas.

Mary Ann is a retired  children’s orthodontist and teacher.

Both describe themselves as “just amateur photographers with a love of nature.”

Their camera is Nikon D-90 with Nikor 80-200, F 2.8 lens and Nikor 35-70, F2.8 lens.

The Friends web address is www.friendsofhagerman.com.  In addition to the Photographer of the Month album, visitors to the website can enjoy albums depicting Birds of Hagerman, Wildflowers, Butterflies, etc. as well as special events.

A panel discussion for photographers is slated for Saturday, June 13, at 8:30 a.m., prior to the regular Second Saturday nature program.  For more information, contact the Friends at friendsofhagerman@gmail.com or call the Refuge, 903 786 2826.
