Sam Scott, a Santa Fe based artist, credits nature as his primary artistic educator, although he spent his formative years enrolled in the Chicago Art Institute and subsequently attended the Maryland Institute of Art graduating Suma Cum Laude.

A keen observer of life and philosophy, and a student of the planet, Sam Scott spent time during his young adult years living in various eco-systems.  His art embodies this love for the earth and conveys both a feeling of abstract expressionism and his self-proclaimed “consciousness of the natural world’s beauty and creative energy.”

With a focus on the earth as living and ever changing, yet as a timeless subject matter, Scott creates abstract paintings in oils and watercolor that are designed, in his eyes, to tell the story of “brave beauty” that is “slowly revealed, gradually understood, and then enduringly felt.”

Recent works by Sam Scott will be on exhibit through June 20.  The gallery is located at 1130 Dragon St., Suite 190 (off Howell Street) in Dallas, TX.

HCG Gallery, which opened its doors on April 18, 2008, is committed to representing primarily local emerging or mid-career Texas artists.  The new Dragon Street space has approximately 3,500 square feet for exhibitions, and movable walls to accommodate different works of art and sculptures of all sizes. HCG Gallery has lighting placed strategically throughout its open floor plan, and high ceilings that create a upscale, downtown lofty look and feel. http://www.hcggallery.com/
