The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Mrs. Amy Holderman as the new principal of Bennett Elementary School at their Work-Study Meeting on April 21. Mrs. Holderman currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Walker Elementary School. She will replace current Bennett Elementary School principal Paige Hanks, who was recently announced as the principal of the new Herman Lawson Early Childhood Center, scheduled to open in the fall.
Mrs. Holderman has served as assistant principal of Walker Elementary School for three years. She was a third grade teacher at Walker Elementary School for one year prior to serving as assistant principal. Mrs. Holderman started her career in Ector County ISD as a first grade teacher in 1995. She left Ector County in 1998 for a first grade teaching post at Valley Creek Elementary School in McKinney. She served as Valley Creek's first grade team leader for seven years before arriving at Walker Elementary School in 2005.
Mrs. Holderman received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1995 and her Master of Education in School Administration from Dallas Baptist University in 2005. She received her Reading Recovery Certification from Texas Women's University in 1999 and her Assistant Principal Certification from Dallas Baptist University in 2003. Ms. Holderman has also received her certification in English as a Second Language (ESL).
