Bonham, Texas – On April 26, Fannin County Habitat celebrated the completion of the Honey Grove build project with their Home Dedication Celebration. The Dedication Ceremony symbolizes the homeowner partner family taking ownership of the home. Together Fannin County and Habitat built a house in Honey Grove and now the Ray family will make it their home.
Fannin County Habitat Board President Wilson Fryar said, “Today we are dedicating this new home to the Ray family, but we are also celebrating the people that made it all possible—our donors and volunteers.”
Special signage donated by Eagle Screen Printing thanked all of the businesses, churches and organizations for their contributions. Wilson encouraged everyone to shop locally and help the businesses that support their community. The programs that were handed out to all visitors paid special honor to all volunteers that participated in this project.
The Mistress of Ceremonies, Honey Grove C of C President Patti Hicks, led the celebration and introduced all guests.
Guest speakers were:
Honey Grove Mayor Harold Roberts thanking Fannin County Habitat for bringing their mission to Honey Grove.
Bonham Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Jones spoke of Habitat’s work internationally and its impact locally through Fannin county Habitat.
Texoma RSVP Director Julia Traweek applauded the impact of volunteerism on a community and most especially the volunteer work of senior citizens. Habitat logged 4200 construction man-hours on this build and our senior citizens put in almost 2600.
Volunteer Coordinator Eva Fryar with the help of the Ray family recognized all volunteers with gifts. Eva gave a special certificate to foreign exchange student, Yuan Zhu, for outstanding community support in his volunteerism. She also applauded Mary Pauline Yarbrough, Meal Coordinator, and her army of cooks that fed all volunteers throughout the nine-month build process. Beautiful acrylic and wood awards went to two special sponsor/volunteer businesses, McClure Electric and Stephens Builders.
Pastor Ken Yates from Honey Grove’s First Baptist Church led a very moving house blessing. Members of FCH Board of Directors presented the Ray family with gifts of food, a family Bible and Habitat key ring. Patti Hicks ended the ceremony with a beautiful rendition of the song, “Bless This House.”
Afterwards the overflow crowd enjoyed viewing the home and the delectable refreshments provided once again by the cooks of the community.
