Trey Pedigo hit a pair of solo homeruns for the Bells Panthers and Casey Shelby went 4 for 5 in a losing effort Tuesday night as Tom Bean scored 5 runs in the seventh inning for the victory over the Panthers.

It was not a pretty sight Tuesday night as the Panthers could not maintain a lead to clinch a district victory.  Bells would score 7 runs in the second inning to go up 9-3 and a 4 run inning in the 5th would give the Panthers an 8 run cushion, 15-7.  The Tom Cats would hold the Panthers to no runs in the last two innings and score 5 runs in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat the Panthers 17-15.

Cody Vaughn would start on the mound for the Panthers and go three innings.  Vaughn had 5 strikeouts, and gave up 2 hits while walking 3 batters.  Jordan Shults started the fourth inning for the Bells and pitched three innings.  Shults would strikeout 3 batters, allow 3 hits, walked 4, and hit 2 batters.  Casey Shelby pitched the seventh inning and finished with 1 strikeout and allowed 6 hits.

Shelby would single and Ryan Klose walked to put two runners on for Coltin Payne, who doubled and scored Shelby.  Trey Pedigo would score Ryan Klose on a sacrifice fly out to center field and Reed Klose would end the inning on a fly out to left field.  The Panthers would lead 2-0 after the first inning.

Bells would score 7 runs in the second inning.  Nate Neal would lead off with a double, Pate Pritchard would get on base with a fielding error by the second baseman and Joe Wright would single to left field to score Neal.  Vaughn would fly out to right field and Shelby would double to left field to score Pritchard.  Ryan Klose would reach base on a missed fly ball at shortstop and Wright would score.  Payne would hit to shortstop and reach base on a fielder’s choice.  The shortstop would make a bad throw to third base trying to get the lead runner, Shelby, and he would score on the error.  The third baseman would track down the ball and throw to second base to get Payne, and the throw would go out to right field.  Ryan Klose and Payne would score on the error.  Pedigo would be up next with the bases cleared and smash a solo homerun over right-center field wall.  Reed Klose would ground out to third base.  Neal would be back up to the plate and get a double on a missed fly ball to left field.  Pritchard would end the inning with a strikeout.  Bells would lead 9-3.

Wright started off the third inning with a ground out to shortstop, Vaughn would walk and Shelby singled to shortstop.  Ryan Klose would ground out to second base, but move the runners to second and third.  Payne would end the inning on a ground out to shortstop.  Bells continued to lead, 9-5.

Pedigo started off the fourth inning with his second homerun of the night.  Reed Klose lined a double to left field.  Neal would ground out to second base and Jordan Shults would reach first base on a throwing error by the Tom Bean shortstop.  Reed Klose would score on Shults’ hit.  The catcher would then throw Shults out at second on the attempted steal.  Wright ended the inning with a fly out to shortstop.  Bells would lead by five, 11-6.

Vaughn started off the fifth inning with a single to right field and a stolen base.  Shelby would single and reach second on the fielding error by the Tom Bean right fielder and Vaughn would score.  Ryan Klose singled to center field and advanced to second on the throw to home plate as Shelby scored.  Payne continued the Panther hitting streak with a single right field and advance to second on a fielding error and Ryan Klose would score.  Pedigo singled and Reed Klose would be called out on strikes.  Neal scored Pedigo on a sacrifice fly to left field.  Shults would get a fielder’s choice, but Pedigo would be forced out at second to end the inning.  Bells would jump out to a 15-7 lead.

The Panthers would go three up, three down in the sixth and seventh innings.  Bryce Powers would strike out, Vaughn fly out to left field, and Shelby fly out to third base to end the sixth inning.  Ryan Klose and Payne would ground out and Pedigo struck out to end the game and the Panthers would lose 17-15.

Shelby would go 4-5 (double, 2 RBI), Pedigo 3-4 (2 HR, 3 RBI), Payne 2-5 (double, 2 RBI), Neal 1-3 (double, RBI), Wright 1-3 (RBI), Ryan Klose 1-4 (walk, 2 RBI), Reed Klose 1-4 (double), Vaughn 1-4 (walk), and Shults 0-2 (RBI).
