Regent Mark Stansberry to speak at Massey Lectureship on April 23

DURANT, Okla. -- Regent Mark Stansberry will offer remarks at the 12th Massey Family Endowed Lectureship in Business and Public Policy on Thursday, April 23.  The lecture will begin at 11 a.m. in the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Ballroom.

Stansberry, a member of the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) Board of Regents, is Chairman of The GTD (Global Trade and Development) Group. GTD assists clients in developing and managing trade along with international investments. GTD provides a wide range of services to support its clients' domestic and international goals, to include objective research, informed analysis, and the design and implementation of effective business strategies.

The GTD Group owns and invests in companies that provide energy consulting and management, environmental assessments, and federal government relations.
The GTD Group also has strategic alliances with companies and organizations all over the United States and has access to services around the world.

Stansberry was appointed to a nine-year term on the RUSO Board in 2001 by Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating.  He served as its chairman in 2006-2007.

In addition, he serves on a number of corporate and civic boards. Under Governor Brad Henry, he served as chairman of the 2007 Governorıs International Team.

Stansberry is president of the International Society of The Energy Advocates, a national organization, chairman of Oklahomaıs State Chamber Energy Council, and Chairman and Founder of the International Energy Policy Conference, now in its 17th year.

He presently serves on the John Massey School of Business Advisory Board, the Board of Directors of People to People International, Board of Trustees of The Fund for American Studies, and Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Heritage Association.

Stansberry has testified before the U. S. Senate and other regulatory bodies and he served on the staff of former U. S. Senator Dewey F. Bartlett.

He is the co-author of the handbook entitled: ³The Acquisition Process and Due Diligence:  Minimize Risk and Maximize Return!,²  and author of the book
entitled:  ³The Braking Point:  Americaıs Energy Dreams and Global Economic
Realities.²  

Stansberry has been married to his wife, Nancy, for thirty-one years.  He has three grown children and two grandchildren.

The lectureship was established in 1994 by a gift from the John Massey family, which was matched by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Endowment Fund Program. Previous speakers at the Massey Lecture include H.E.
³Geneıı Rainbolt, George Kaiser, Edward Keller, Ambassador James Jones, Dr.
Tom Cole, Archie Dunham, Keith Bailey, Michael Cawley, Regent Joseph Cappy, Sen. Ted Fisher, and J. Clifford Hudson.

 John Massey, a 1984 Distinguished Alumnus of Southeastern, is currently serving his second term as a member of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

A 1960 graduate of Southeastern, Massey was elected State Representative that same year and served two terms. In 1964, he was elected State Senator and also served two terms in that capacity.

In 2005, the Southeastern School of Business was named the John Massey School of Business in recognition of Regent Masseyıs support of higher education and Southeastern.

At Southeastern, Regent Massey has established eight endowed chairs and four professorships.

Regent Massey is Chairman of the Board of First United Bank; Chairman of the Board for Durant Enterprises, Inc.; Chairman of the Small Business Development Center; and is on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.

He was named to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2002, and in 2004, he was the first non-educator named to the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame.
