Ector -- The Ector Eagles had three players put up double figures, but four Dodd City Hornets finished in double figures and Dodd City left town with a 10-point win.
The Hornets had the hot hand early and Dodd City was up 22-15 after the first period. Defense set the tone in a low-scoring second stanza. The Hornets held a 31-23 advantage at the break.
Both offenses were very effective in the final two periods, but Dodd City outscored Ector 42-40 in the second half to pick up a 73-63 win on the road.
Dodd City senior Ethan Stephens knocked down 19 points to lead all scorers. Nathan Roberts, a sophomore, and freshman Jaylen Wallace each tossed in 14 points, while Patrick Moore, another Dodd City sophomore, dropped in a dozen points.
Ector freshman Bradley Bingham scored 16, including three triples, to lead the Eagles. Jacob Crowell, Ector's freshman post, put up 15 points and senior Mason Cox scored 13. Brandon Richards had seven points, Zakree Thompson finished with five points, Colton Thomason contributed three points, B.J. Kennedy tossed in two points and Ethan Hicks had a free throw.
Dodd City takes on Fannindel on Tuesday, while Ector will face Fannindel on Friday.
