The Bells Panthers moved to 3-4 in District 11-2A after a Friday night win over the Gunter Tigers. Bells had three players with double digits. Cody Stern led the Panthers with 15 points. Ryan Klose added 12 points and 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Derek Elk scored 10 points and led with 4 assists. Colton Hinson led Gunter with 13 points.
Gunter would take the lead after the first quarter 15-14. Ryan Klose would grab an offensive rebound and go back up for 2 points and would finish with 4 points for the quarter. Cody Stern and Jordan Shults each added 3 points and Kolby Milner had a bucket for 2 points. Reed Klose had a buzzer beating hook shot for 2 points to end the quarter.
Gunter took a quick 26-18 lead during the second quarter. Bells would chip away at the score and another buzzer beating shot by Reed Klose would put Bells to within one point at the half, 31-30. Stern had 7 points in the second quarter. Ryan Klose, Elk, Nate Neal, and Reed Klose would each have 2 points and Bud Pedigo would add a free throw.
The Panthers would have a good third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 11-6, to take a 41-37 lead. Elk led with 6 points in the third quarter. Reed and Ryan Klose each had 2 points and Stern added a free throw.
Bells again outscored Gunter in the fourth quarter 19-11, and would claim victory by a 12 point margin, 60-48. The Panthers would shoot 100% and sink eight free throws in the fourth quarter. Ryan Klose and Stern each had 4 points and Kolby Milner had 3 points. Elk, Pedigo, Reed Klose, and Neal each added 2 points.
Leading for Bells would be Cody Stern with 15 points and 2 assists. Ryan Klose poured in 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and had 2 steals. Derek Elk added 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. Reed Klose had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kolby Milner scored 5 points. Nate Neal added 4 points and 2 rebounds. Jordan Shults had 3 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Bud Pedigo also had 3 points and 2 rebounds.
The Panthers will start the second round of district 11-2A action on Tuesday night as they travel to Howe for a match-up with the Bulldogs.
