(RENO, Nevada) - The entry deadline is nearing for the inaugural Silver Sage Adventure Race, beginning and ending in downtown Reno, Sunday, June 15. Pre-registration is required and all entries and fees must be received by Wednesday, June 11.

The one-day, multidiscipline race will have athletes of all levels mountain biking approximately 20 miles through a myriad of Sierra terrain, running two to four miles on city streets as well as single track trails, and navigating via map and compass through and along the Truckee River. Kicking off from Wingfield Park in the heart of Reno's revived river district, athletes from across the Western U.S. will compete solo or in teams of up to four in the premier race of an ever-growing sport.
Athletes can hone their map and compass skills in an orienteering clinic 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25 at Burton Creek State Park in North Lake Tahoe. Cost is $12 for the first person on each team, $2 for each additional team member. Clinic cost can be applied to race entry fees.
Participants can race individually or in teams of two, three or four in any combination of same-sex or co-ed. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the three and four-person co-ed divisions. Teams racing in three or more competitions, including the Tahoe Big Blue, Saturday, September 13, will be in the running for the title of Champion of the Big Blue Adventure Series, which is determined on an overall point basis.
Fees include welcome party, clinics, t-shirt, racing bib, prize giveaway, and Big Blue Barbecue. All racers will have the opportunity to win two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines, an Aegean Ocean Kayak and other gear in each race raffle.
