Bonham Public Library Building receives award

There are five competition categories. The Bonham Public Library, designed by Brad Waters of Providence Architecture, was entered in the Traditional category for projects up to $1.5 million. Other categories are Design/Build, Industrial/Warehouse, Interior, and Specialty, each with sub-categories.The judging criteria included: difficulty in construction resulting from design, location and materials; unusual construction techniques; the final appearance and quality of the finished product; and timeliness of completion.
Librarian Barbara McCutcheon worked with Harrison, Walker and Harper to gather all the necessary documentation for the entry. During the process of building and retrofitting the former library into the current one, the library remained open around the corner and close to the construction.
