Robert Noel (Bob) Tarpley

BELLS – On Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 6:00 a.m. the Lord called his faithful servant Robert Noel Tarpley home to be with Him after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Bells on Tuesday, March 11, at 10:00 a.m. with family visitation on Monday, March 10, 2003 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mullican-Little Funeral Home with Rev. Joan Humphries of the church will conduct the service. The family will be at the Tarpley residence in Bells at other times.
Bob served as a Navy Seabee during WW II in Okinawa and Japan. After the war he returned to Sherman where he immediately began working for Mrs. Tuckers, which later became Anderson and Clayton, and is now Kraft. He worked for 42 ½ years as a master mechanic retiring in 1989.
Bob was a graduate of Windom High School (1943), Draughn’s Business College of Dallas (1944) and he also graduated from Sherman Business College after the war.
He was a member of Bells United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a member of the Woodmen of the World fraternal organization and a charter member of both the Bells Fire Department and Lion's Club.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josephine Pointer, as they wed on December 27, 1947.
He is also survived by his children, Elaine Tarpley Cowart & husband Bill of Sherman, Texas and David Tarpley & wife Jean of Vancleave, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Brandon Cowart and wife Sondra of Sherman, Texas, Stephen Tarpley of Grand Prairie, Texas, Selina Tarpley Mendoza and husband Daryl of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kristie Tarpley Bluhm & husband Stephen of Grand Prairie, Texas and Jason Tarpley of Vancleave, Mississippi; three great grandchildren; Shelby Rose Cowart, Kyle Willmond and Che' Farmer.
He was preceded in death by: grandson Richard Cowart and his parents, Raymond and Gladys Suitor Tarpley.
Military graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at which Daryl Mendoza will perform a military honor guard service and will present Josie with the American flag to honor Bob’s service to his country.
