Vandals strike message boards in Caddo National Grasslands

Recent occurrences of vandalism of message boards in the Caddo National Grasslands will make it more difficult for visitors to receive information and for hunters to submit permit cards.

The message board, located on Spoonamore Road, has been destroyed twice since August. The board contains information for visitors and permit cards for hunters. The cost of replacing the board is around $600.

Hunters who use the permit cards from the message board from Unit 9 along Spoonamore Road are now asked to get their cards from Unit 7 along Spoonamore Road or from registration stations along FM road 409.

A map showing the location of registration stations is also available in the Public Hunting Lands Map Booklet.

“It’s a shame that the thoughtless acts of a few will impact many,” Caddo National Grasslands District Ranger Jim Crooks said.  “If anyone has information on the vandalism of these boards, I ask that they report it to our office at 940-627-5475.”
