Herb Harvest Fall Festival and Herb Harvest Dinner Oct. 2-4 at Ozark Folk Center

Mountain View, AR -- The Heritage Herb Garden and the Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center, Mountain View, Arkansas presents the annual Herb Harvest Fall Festival and Herb Harvest Dinner. The theme is green and timely—“Grow Your Own Food & Herbs.”

The Herb Harvest Dinner and Reception kicks off the event at 6:30 P.M on Thursday, October 2, 2008. The Herb Harvest Fall Festival Seminars begin at 9 A.M. on October 3 & 4 in the Ozark Folk Center’s Administration Building.
Jeremiah Gettle of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, near Mansfield, Missouri is the keynote speaker. His topic is “The State of Our Food Supply.” This young man has made a large selection of open-pollinated seed available to gardeners and farmers.
Experienced and knowledgeable, all of the presenters are small business people or in some way make a living from the land. Herb Culver and Karen Zaremba operate Bean Mountain Farms in Newton County; Cynthia Cox of Red Fox Farm operates a market garden; Marion Spear is a soap maker and herbal entrepreneur from Stone County; Rand and Beth Retzloff of Grand Designs live and work in Little Rock. Laura McNerney’s gardens are near Franklin, Arkansas. The Ozark Unit of the Herb Society of America is head-quartered at the Ozark Folk Center’s Heritage Herb Garden. All speakers will be showing you how to grow and use your own food and herbs.

Felicia Franks, one of the Ozark Folk Center’s newest gardeners, helps a visitor choose from the wide variety of heirloom seed available in the new Herb Shop in the craft village. Come to the Herb Harvest Festival on October 2 and 3 and learn all about using heirloom plants in your own food supply.
The Committee of 100’s Herb Garden Committee host and cook up tasty morsels for the Herb Harvest Reception and A Country Tea. The Committee of 100 also sponsors the herb events by funding speakers.
