Herb’s first in Dallas market to adopt new environmentally responsible paint technology

DALLAS – Herb’s Paint & Body, a family-owned business since 1956, received a proclamation last week from Mayor Tom Leppert, recognizing Dallas-area companies for their “green” practices. Herb’s was selected for its water-based automotive paint initiative.  The recognition was a lead up to the City of Dallas’ recognition of its first Sustainability Week, Aug. 25-29.

Herb’s is the first multi-collision repair center in the Dallas market to equip its facilities with water-based automotive paint.  This technology is both environmentally responsible and safer for employees, reducing emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) by as much as 75 percent.  In addition, by using this technology over five years the collision center is expected to emit approximately a ton less Greenhouse gases, drastically reducing its carbon footprint.

“Herb’s is honored to receive this recognition from the City of Dallas and the Office of Environmental Quality,” said Alan Walne, chairman, Herb’s Paint & Body.  “We realize the importance of being environmentally responsible and are proud to be leaders among the Dallas community with our choice to use waterborne paints.  This paint not only better serves the environment and our employees, but our customers as well, offering them a smooth, durable and long lasting finish.”

The proclamation recognized companies’ efforts in environmental stewardship and sustainable practices aimed at making life in Dallas and the North Texas Region healthy and prosperous.  Other recipients included the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, Swiss Cleaners and Texas Instruments.
