On Thursday, September 4, 2008, District Attorney Richard Glaser presented forty (40) cases to the Fannin County Grand Jury for their consideration and action. Of the cases presented, thirty-eight (38) cases were True Billed. So far in 2008, the grand jury has returned 298 true bills of indictment in Fannin County.

This increase of serious drug cases and more crimes involving violence is being met with the improving efforts of your local law enforcement leaders. These improvements are throughout all local law enforcement from their initial response to their investigation and report writing and, if necessary, testifying in court. We believe aggressive prosecution of these cases is the most effective deterrent to crime in Fannin County.
It is important to note that an indictment is a formal charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The next grand jury is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, at 8:30 a.m.
