Nancy Collins, co-owner of the Wild Bird Center in Denton, will speak at the Friends of Hagerman NWR Second Saturday on, August 9, at 10 a.m. According to Ms. Collins, creating a “bird-attraction” in a North Texas yard is easy, following four simple steps.
The speaker, along with her partner, Owen Yost, writes “Bird Poop” - a monthly compendium of bird knowledge. She is an avid watcher and feeder of Texas’ wild birds (and a few squirrels), a member of the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council, National Wildlife Federation, the National Wildlife Rehabilitators’ Association, Audubon Society and Native Plant Society of Texas
Also a Texas Master Naturalist, Ms Collins says ”Attracting all sorts of birds to your yard is inexpensive, educational, therapeutic, and fun! Fortunately, north Texas is home to hundreds of bird species, many of which you can attract to your yard simply by providing what they want and need.”

There will be plenty of time for questions following her presentation.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the AV Center at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. For information and or directions, call 903 786 2826 or visit www.friendsofhagerman.com.
