In celebration of the NATIONAL DAY OF THE AMERICAN COWBOY, which is coming up July 26, the American Cowboy Magazine has stirred up a friendly competition between two communities both proclaiming to be the COWBOY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!'

Starting July 1st, Stephenville, Texas began competing against Oakdale, California by selling $10 tickets for a chance to win a Side of Beef (USA born and raised) donated by South Dakota Beefman Tom Connelley. Connelley, who worked with the late Wyoming Senator Craig Thomas, the legislator who initiated the National Day of the American Cowboy resolution, on cattle and ranching legislative issues, decided to sponsor the Cowboy Capital Challenge to promote USA raised beef and to encourage beef as a part of the celebrations.

All proceeds from the $10 donations will go back into western heritage and cowboy-related projects and events in the respective communities. The town selling the most tickets will be named Cowboy Capital Winner of the Year. The winning ticket will be drawn on July 26th. Supporters purchasing 5 or more tickets will receive an Official ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’ T-Shirt!

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS is known far and wide for being the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World!’ In fact, we have more professional cowboys per square foot than anywhere else in the world!

WE HAVE BEEN CHALLENGED! Now, we have an opportunity to get some national attention for our community and our local cowboys – past, present and future.

ARE YOU READY TO HELP US WIN??

Will you help us show California and the rest of the world that everything really is BIGGER and BETTER in TEXAS?

We need Texas to help win this Challenge!
Tickets (& T-shirts) can be purchased online at www.stephenvilletexas.org
