Craft Saturday, July 19, at the Red River Historical Museum, will feature Texoma Woodcarver, Dick Malnory, whose subject will be “Paint a Wood Duck Feather Pin.”

Malnory will demonstrate carving a feather pin and each participant will receive one to paint. There will be no kit fee for this class; all materials will be furnished, and up to ten people may participate.  Additional persons may observe but there will be supplies for only ten so anyone interested is encouraged to register by calling the museum.

Malnory, a Sherman resident, began woodcarving over 15 years ago as a retirement hobby, but has been a lifelong woodworker by avocation, doing carpentry and building furniture.

He is a member of the Texoma Woodcarvers Guild and has served as president and is currently treasurer.  His carvings have earned many blue ribbons and “best-in-show” designations.

Craft Saturday at the museum, located at 301 S. Walnut in Sherman, is made possible through matching grants from the Sherman Council for the Arts & Humanities and the Friends of the Red River Historical Museum.  For more information call museum director Marcia Rolbiecki at 903-893-7623.
