The Children's Chorus of Greater North Texas is auditioning and registering singers in grades K through 2 for Music Makers and grades 3 through 9 for Concert Choir.
CCGNT is celebrating its 5th year as a nonprofit children's community choir. In the last five years more than 150 children have sung in the choir and they have come from Prosper, McKinney, Van Alstyne, Howe, Gunter, Sherman, Denison, Whitesboro, Pottsboro, Bells, Tom Bean, Ladonia, Ravenna, Bonham, Ector, Leonard, Colbert Oklahoma, and Kingston Oklahoma.
Children who love music and love to sing will enjoy singing with CCGNT. The choir was formed five years ago with the intention of giving children in Greater North Texas healthy vocal training that would cost much less than private voice lessons. It would also give children, who qualify for financial assistance, all of the opportunities and training of singing in a children's choir.
During the 2007-2008 school year the choirs gave a Christmas, Winter, and Spring Concert, sang for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Banquet, sang at the Sherman Arts Festival, gave three concerts in the Ida Green Theater at Austin College for more than 900 second grade students in Grayson County, and participated in a Joint Concert with the Grayson County Music Teachers' Piano Ensembles.
Registration and auditions will be every Monday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. on August 4 and 11. Call Susan Matthews, director, at 903-893-0607 to make an appointment. CCGNT is a member of the Sherman Council for the Arts and Humanities. http://www.childrenschorus.net/
