Coffee stops, Barber Shops and other gathering places from McKinney to Ivanhoe, Texas, have been buzzing with curiosity about the construction commotion going on south of Bonham on Highway 121.

The secret is officially out.  Tractor City is coming!  The new 26,000 square foot facility will house a full realm of farming and ranching needs plus an array of mint condition antique tractors collected from around the United States.  From Komatsu equipment rental to new Massey Ferguson tractors, from tractor parts and service, to a full line of feed supplies, propane, diesel and biodiesel delivered and available on site, Tractor City plans to be the “Farmer’s Best Friend.”

Owner, David Cardile, a 30-year resident of Fannin County, stated, “ I’ve lived here for a long time and I have experienced first hand the frustration of trying to find tractor supplies and service in this area.  I wanted to start a business that would not only offer quality products but would be convenient to local farmers and ranchers.”

A unique factor of the facility is that it is being built green.  That’s right, completely green, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) CERTIFIED GREEN.

This certification, which was developed and is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, promotes design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well being.

Biodiesel, which will be produced on site, is a clean burning alternative fuel, which is biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.

Tractor City will be powered with electricity generated from Wind Turbines, the heating and cooling will come through the ground by way of a geothermal system and the foundation will contain over 20% flyash, a byproduct of coal plants, which provides for a stronger more dense concrete.  An interesting side note, in 1929, flyash was used in the construction of the HOOVER DAM.

As the only full service Farm and Ranch One Stop Shop business in the North Texas area, Tractor City will generate and bring welcomed revenue to the area.

Anticipated to open by the end of summer, Mr. Cardile said, “We plan to be here long term and look forward to serving farmers and ranchers for years to come.”
