Rachel and Nathan are the children of Syd and Kathleen Newman and live in Roxton with their six siblings where the family just recently completed building their own home.  Rachel and Nathan have both been active volunteers for five years.  They have donated many hours to the HHH program and they are comfortable working in any area both with the students and the horses.  Rachel and Nathan’s siblings have also volunteered and Mom and Dad have gone the extra mile to make sure the family is involved and supportive.

Rachel graduated this year from Blessed Hope Christian School in Roxton.  She has  trained and shown western pleasure horses, as well as actively participated in Lamar County 4-H. Both Rachel and Nathan competed this year at the State level in 4-H rifle and plant identification competition.  Rachel will attend Hardin Simmons University in Abilene in the fall – majoring in biology. After completing her undergraduate degree, Rachel plans to attend physical therapy school. Many others have recognized Rachel’s talents and she has received several scholarships.

Nathan is the President of the Lamar County 4-H Council and the Roxton 4-H Club.  He is also an officer on the District 4 4-H Council.  His goal is to serve on the State 4-H Council.  His particular area of interest is the reading and study of military history.  Currently, he plans to pursue a career in law.

“Hannah’s” is blessed with fabulous volunteers.  The top ten volunteers in hours this year were Laura Hartmann, Carol Crilly, Jessica Covington, Cindy Mahoney, Chas Hanson, Mariah Mills, Lisa Cline, Lloyd Jones, Ruthie McIntyre and Alexandria Hanson.  If you would like to join the HHH family as a volunteer, please call 903-640-9106.
