McKinney ISD names two new middle school principals

The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of two new middle school principals.  Dr. Logan Faris, McKinney Boyd High School Assistant Principal, was named the new principal of Dowell Middle School.  Mitch Curry, Commerce High School Principal, was named the new principal of Scott Johnson Middle School.
 
Dr. Faris has served as an assistant principal at McKinney Boyd High School for the past two years.  Prior to serving at Boyd he was Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Center High School in Center, Texas and Assistant Principal at Nacogdoches High School.  He has served as an assistant principal at the high school level for 10 years.  In addition, he taught science courses at the secondary level, including: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physical Science.  He served as a teacher in Broaddus ISD and Leggett ISD.
 
Dr. Faris earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.  He earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin.  Dr. Faris replaces Eartha Linson, who accepted a central administration position leading a new teacher mentor program.  Dr. Faris has over 15 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in public education.
 
Mitch Curry, the new principal of Scott Johnson Middle School, has served as the principal of Commerce High School for one year and served as the principal of Commerce Middle School for two years.  In addition, he served as an assistant principal at Wyle High School.  Prior to serving as a secondary administrator, Mr. Curry taught band for 11 years.  He served as the Head Band Director at Timpson High School and as an Assistant Band Director for Wylie High School, Mesquite High School, and Waxahachie High School.
 
Mr. Curry earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Stephen F. Austin State University.  He earned a Master of Education and completed a superintendent certification program from Texas A&M University at Commerce.  Mr. Curry will replace Dr. Melinda DeFelice, who accepted the position of Cockrill Middle School Principal earlier in the year.  Mr. Curry has served as an educator and administrator for 17 years.
