Congratulations are in order to Brandy Landon of Honey Grove High School. Brandy is the first recipient of the Richard & Jayne Deweese Patriot Scholarship awarded to an outstanding senior student based on many qualities including service to her community and patriotism to her Country. The schlarship was awarded at the 11th Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration held May 17th and is an annual nonpartisan event sponsored by the Fannin County Republican Party. The Celebration hosted 350 folks to an evening of entertainment by Rita Fulmer, Bar B Que dinner and special speakers to include Supreme Court Justine Dale Wainwright and Congressman Ralph Hall. In addition to Brandy's award, cash awards and special recognition was also presented to 21 other Fannin County students who particpated in the essay contest.
