The Patriot Scholarship is an annual $500 award given to a deserving graduating Fannin County High School Senior who best exemplifies patriotism, civic dedication, volunteering and good works toward their fellow citizens.

The $500 award was started from citizen contributions received by the Republican Party of Fannin County as a memorial for the late Richard and Jayne Deweese.  Richard and Jayne were long time Fannin County residents who always displayed dedication to their fellow citizens and a great love for our country and our communities.

The intent of the $500 cash scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the most deserving high school senior patriot in the county who also aspires to higher learning or technical training.

Applications for this scholarship can be obtained from various high school principals or counselors in Fannin County, or by calling Melody Michaud at 903-640-0885, or by emailing a request for an application from Mrs. Michaud at:  mamichaud@gmail.com.

This $500 “Patriot Scholarship” will be awarded this year at the Eleventh Annual Armed Forces Day Dinner on May 17th.  Completed applications must be received by the Fannin County Republican Party not later than Friday, May 2, 2008.
