The F-86L Saberjet tail number 16144 was recently lifted off the pedestal by Scharff Crane Company and loaded on to Jester Brothers Construction Company's eighteen-wheeler trailer for a return trip to Perrin Field.

The jet has been a famous landmark for Sherman. It was located on a pedestal in  the American Legion Post 29 parking lot for more than a half century. It came from Perrin Field in the late 1950's.

Community and Perrin Air Force Base Museum's appreciation goes to Jester Brothers Construction, Scharff Crane Company, and the Sherman Police Department for their professional escort and traffic control all the way to Perrin.

The F86 "returns home" as it enters the former base entrance formerly named Arnold boulevard (changed to Grayson Drive). In the background is the famous Perrin Field's famous checker board water tower.

The jet will need a complete clean up inside and out because of the bird nests and other accumulated trash accumulated during the past half century.

It is expected to take a year of so to get the F-86 back to United States Air Force standards.
